HS115 Troubleshooting

The HS115 is the automatic metering system recommended for use with Heatsavr™, the liquid solar pool cover.

The system itself is simple, easy to install and very low maintenance. That being said, as with any equipment, there may be some minor troubleshooting necessary throughout the extended life of the pump.

Clock reset when the system was unplugged, or the LCD screen isn't displaying

Replace the backup battery inside the pump housing with a 3 Volt lithium BR2330 or CR2330.

Pump won't pull liquid from the supply container

1. Check to see that there is not an air leak somewhere along the chemical supply line. If air is entering the line the pump will not be able to pull liquid from the supply container.
  • Tighten both white nuts on the pump where the intake and output lines are attached
  • Tighten the cap / pick up assembly on the supply container
  • Make sure there is a tight fit where the pick up tube connects to the pick up assembly or cap. Use a zip tie if necessary.
  • Tighten the white nut on the injection fitting

2. If there is too much vacuum created, the pump will not be able to move the chemical. This is easily recognized when the squeeze tubing collapses. If this happens:
  • Check that the squeeze tube or pump cartridge is not jammed.
  • Check the chemical uptake lines for kinks.
  • Ensure that the chemical uptake line is not forming a seal against the side or bottom of the chemical drum
  • Using a less viscous chemical, pumping shorter distances, setting longer run times and ensuring that the squeeze tube is in good condition will help address the issue.

Pump will not run

  • Check that the squeeze tube and / or pump cartridge isn't jammed.
  • Check the chemical uptake line for kinks.
  • Verify that the chemical uptake line is not forming a seal against the side or bottom of the chemical drum
  • Press the Program button once to assure that you are in Run Mode. You must be in Run Mode for programmed events to occur. If you are in Run Mode the colon should blink once per second.
  • Push the Prime button and try to prime the pump. If the pump does prime, check that events are properly programmed.

Pump runs continuously or too slowly

If the pump runs without being activated, replace the main PCB.

If the pump runs too slowly,
  • Check that the squeeze tube or pump cartridge is not jammed.
  • Check the chemical uptake line for kinks.
  • Verify that the chemical uptake line is not forming a seal against the side or bottom of the chemical drum
  • If the liquid being pumped is very viscous the pump may labor in order to move it. Using a less viscous chemical, pumping shorter distances, setting longer run times, and assuring that the squeeze tube is in good condition will help address this issue.

Pump runs backwards

Check that the polarity of the wires from the main PCB to the motor is correct.
