How to Become Better Than You Thought You Could Be
by Monique Nelson on June 14th, 2011

Do you know what the biggest obstacle in the road to success is?

Personal limitations.

And I am not talking about physical or mental disabilities, I am talking about the limitations you place on yourself - often without any rhyme or reason.

This generalized truth applies to your relationships, your education, your athletic skills, and your business. Whether you realize it or not, you are holding yourself back.

You probably don't do it on purpose. In fact, you probably think you are doing just the opposite - striving to become better. Do you find yourself becoming better?

If you do find yourself becoming "better" in some way, have you ever wondered why?
If you find yourself struggling just to keep up, have you ever wondered why?

The answer is almost always this: CHANGE.

I love the saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over, and over, and over again and expecting different results. That does sound crazy, doesn't it?

To stay sane and find your way to huge success, all you have to do is stop doing the same thing, over and over and over again - unless it is bringing you increasing success.

It is time to try something new. New ideas don't always work, but if you put your mind to it, I am CERTAIN you can come up with some new ways to bring success to your facility. If you try something and it doesn't work, don't keep doing it expecting different results. Try a new something new. And then a newer something new. Just keep trying, and eventually you will have so many new ways to increase traffic, train your staff, extend your season, save money, become safer and more get my drift.

The trick is to not jump into the deep end without learning to swim first. Do some research and find new ideas that have proven to be successful for others in your field. For example, I just did a search to find out how many people on Twitter list YMCA in their profile. I came up with 855. 855 people cannot be on Twitter for no reason, so there must be a profitable benefit. If your facility doesn't use Twitter to bring in business and raise awareness, this is a great NEW idea to try. Join Twitter Today.

Here is another example. Currently, in North America alone, hundreds and hundreds of commercial aquatics facilities are using Heatsavr, the liquid pool cover, to lower their energy consumption, conserve water and SAVE MONEY. That sounds like a very profitable idea. And it is proven to work, so it is a fairly safe NEW idea to try at your facility to start becoming better at your business.

There are many, many other proven techniques that will be NEW to you, and can help you change for the better. Start tearing down those personal and professional limitations you have set for your facility and open up the doors to unimaginable success!
