How to Sell Convenience in a Retail Store

As a retailer, you have the joyous responsibility of showing options to your customers, and you may or may not have the opportunity to actually talk about these options. How can you sell convenience to customers who are simply scanning your shelves?

The first thing you can and should do is place the items you know will help your customer out the most within easy reach. You would be amazed at how the human mind works - even though a product that is easy to put into your basket has nothing to do with how easy that product may be to use, our mind will argue the connection anyways.

Choosing products that are just as easy to understand as they are to use is also another plus. You will be hard pressed to get a customer to believe a product is super convenient if it takes you 45 minutes to explain what it does. 

Finally, the most important thing that you can do to sell convenience to customers is to make sure the products you choose to promote truly are convenient. Here are some fill-in-the-blank statements that may help you qualify convenient products:

  • This hard task, __________, will be made much more simple by using __________. 
  • __________ product will produce this benefit, __________, without these usual hardships, __________, __________ __________.

If you value convenience in your life - as a way to prioritize the demands on your time (and wallet!) - than there is a good chance that your customers do too. And they will undoubtedly welcome your help choosing pool products that will make their life easier, more simple, and much, much happier!
